Download Youtube Song, movie.
Recently my friends, even my relatives that who is old enought that the amount of salt they eat is more than the rice I eat, keep asking me: Is it possible to download the movie that shown in youtube? You know la, especially those uncle and aunty who comes from the Louis Armstrong to Leona Lewis, so that those song can be played locally or any other purpose without needing to go online.
All of them seems to be in good luck as I really have a great solution for them, and of course for you too who manage to come to purpleflute. The little movie that we watch in youtube is call a flash movie, or techinically a .flv file. So our task is to get this file from youtube.
For this purpose, you need a good browser that is nonetheless — Firefox. If you have not yet use firefox, I recommended you to download it from 
. Anyway, if you refuse to use firefox, please stop reading. I have no solution for you! The recently for firefox is that it has a huge community where there are lots of plugins that can solve our problem here.
Next step is to get a plugin for our Mr.Firefox that will download our flavourite flash movie for us. This little angel is the Video DownloadHelper 
, get this angel plugin here. After installing this plugin,you will need to restart your browser,Firefox will ask you to do this anyway.
Ok…I got all the tools ready, then what? Well, now fire your firefox to youtube. Try to view a movie of your choice. Now, with video downloadHelper on, you will see the little tri-color logo will appear in the movie’s left top corner. Yes, just click that icon, and it will download to your hard drive, and you can enjoy your movie even when you are offline now. 
Tips: You might wonder where the file is downloaded to? Well, it is downloaded to your user folder’s downhelper folder. e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\yourUser\dwhelper.You can also specify where you want the downloadHelper to download the movie to, for this, instead of click on the logo, you need to click on the small little error beside the logo and select “Download” and a file chooser will shown for you to direct the download path.

If you are using a Linux OS like Ubuntu, just load the youtube video and let it stream till end. Then go to the tmp folder and look for the video file. It won’t have a extension to it but it still able to load.
